who work primarily (50% of their work time) in school settings, who are
interested in activities having an impact on a student's success and well being
and who hold a master's degree. The division defines and advances the role of
school counselors at all educational levels. It promotes the state-wide
recognition of this important educational component. Identity Statement The New Mexico School Counselor Association (NMSCA) is the state organization representing the profession of school counseling. Vision Statement New Mexico School Counselor Association will be recognized as the state school counseling association; and that school counseling will be integral to every individual’s educational experience. Mission Statement The mission of the New Mexico School Counselor Association is to promote excellence in the profession of school counseling and the development of all students. NMSCA Believes in: Respecting the worth and dignity of the individual; Facilitating positive change; Acquiring and applying knowledge; Empowering leadership; and Promoting collaboration.
