The New Mexico Counseling Association (NMCA) is a state branch of the
American Counseling Association (ACA). It is the only state association in New Mexico
with a national affiliation that represents professional counselors. NMCA
encompasses a broad spectrum of groups in the field of professional counseling
and provides an opportunity for sharing and professional growth.
 | NMCA supports state-wide licensing of professional counselors and provides
services to help counselors meet the continuing educational requirements of
licensure. |
 | NMCA promotes ethical standards and responds to the ethical and legal
questions of members. |
 | NMCA publishes a quarterly newsletter which keeps counselors up to date on
current state issues and practices. |
 | NMCA offers professional growth in the way of an annual state conference,
as well as division workshops, and networking opportunities with
professional practitioners. |
 | NMCA is involved at national and regional levels. It has close
affiliations with the ACA
and the ACA regional organization, the Western Regional Branch
Assembly. |
 | NMCA recognizes individual and groups who have rendered outstanding
service to the profession of counseling through The George Keppers Award. |
